Pluid
The prison protest known as the Blanket Protest lasted for over five years between September 1976 and October 1981 and culminated in the death on Hunger Strike of ten of the protesters. In the book Pluid, Eoghan Mac Cormaic recounted the story of the protest as he experienced it, a non-autobiographical re-telling as Gaeilge. In this new book, On the Blanket, he tells the same story with additional material using an A to Z of key words and themes as the framework of the story and going right back in to wing life, struggles, high and low points, humour and sadness, and the bonds that kept over 400 prisoners in Armagh Gaol and the H Blocks on protest through some very brutal and bleak days.
